It's been exactly a year since I joined.

I would get into this photography lark more if RAW processing didn't take so long, and wasn't so dull.

Just got back from.. well, everything. 5 Kenya pictures uploaded - the animals were shot in the wild and not in a zoo, just to clarify. :)

generally..

I intend to buy a subscription sooner or later.

I own a Canon 350D, 18-55mm, 75-300mm and 50mm EF lenses, and some filters. Minor post-processing is applied to the majority of my pictures too, but nothing extreme. Contrast /Levels enhancements are about the extent of it, but if there's anything major I'll include it in the picture description.

I really like looking at others' work, so if you ask me to look at your gallery I will - I won't favourite your work as a favour, pieces I add to my favourites are always ones which inspire me, and if I don't comment too then there's nothing to be said; your work's brilliant. I'll try and drop a comment about your gallery and on pieces - although I prefer photography since it's an interest of my own.

Photography's a developing hobby of mine, so dA to me is what brought me into amateur photography, and hopefully will help me improve no end.. even if I don't continue this, I like these new eyes taking pictures has given me.

February's been a pretty active month for me for a change, with most of my submissions being uploaded this month. I've also put two deviations up as Prints, which should be interesting. (I don't really expect anyone to buy them, but I didn't have any before.) I stupidly edited my latest deviation, Change [link] after shrinking it, and so when I get round to re-editing it I'll upload a high-resolution version, which should make for a good print!

As I'm becoming more serious about photography I can appreciate my better works, and my older photographs of lesser quality. There's still a couple of deviations I plan to delete since they're the remaining 'I'll-just-stick-this-on-because-I've-learned-how-to-use-the-submit-button' types, so I'll get round that.

Importantly I've found recently that CS2's Magic Wand tool and I no longer get on - my new best friend is my camera's Av mode. I've got more than the basic knowledge of my camera now, which should definitely help.

So my plans now: keep doing what I'm doing. Look at other artists, get looked at myself, and overall get out, take and submit more snaps - watch this space - 'cause there's a fair few people to be inspired by on here.

NEW PHOTOGRAPHY COMING SOON.

Just getting acquainted with my new camera which will take a bit of time. Apparently the Canon 350D/Digital Rebel is quite popular, so I should have as much fun with it as you all are! :D Spring isn't far off, which means the potential for capturing some good shots is on the rise. My whole deviantART gallery is about me dabbling in photography, so I might try a bit of everything before I develop my own style.

I've recently moved my 'preliminary' photographs and am in the process of refurbishing my Gallery with photographs that take more thinking on my part. Things like complying to, bending, or at least acknowledging compositional rules - and so on.

There'll be shots I like for no real reason too, of course. :D Either way I hope that there will be a visible progression from my earlier pictures to those taken around the time I'm less of an amateur photographer, whenever that is.

So I'm still going..
